New Addition?

This is (tentatively at least) Mikey. Just got him today. He’s a rescue that we’re fostering for a couple weeks. Our friends at the California GSP Rescue asked if we could pick him up from a small town just north of Vegas, to eventually bring him to them.
95% Chance we keep him. He looks a lot like Kramer, but he’s very different, and he’s a really loving little guy. We think he’s between 3 and 4. Kinda hard to get a good pic of him today, he’s a little squirly. He sat in my lap most of the way home, and seems like he feels right at home here. Our Lab Max is cool with him too.
German Shorthair Pointers are an incredible breed, if you’re looking to rescue a dog, you should check one out, they’re amazing family pets, smart as hell, and loaded with personality.
Just a little worried about getting a rebound dog, but damn he’s cute. Is it too soon (3 1/2 weeks) after losing our last dog? I don’t know, but there’s also a GSP at the rescue in Ca. that we’re interested in too, we’re supposed to exchange them, but we might just end up with another

Ohhhh…it’s his tongue. Until I enlarged the picture, it looked like the poor boy had a hellacious swelling out the side of his face. I thought you were taking consignment on a damaged dog.

Nothing wrong with a rebound pet.
Rescued pets are the best,too.

He’s kind of a needy little guy, not unlike a lot of rescues.
The people we picked him up from found him wandering around their neighborhood, and wanted to keep him, but they already have 3 dogs, four cats, and four horses.
He was chipped in Vegas, but there’s nothing on the chip, and the place that chipped him has gone out of business. We have no idea how he ended up 70 miles outside of Vegas. He kind of seems like he may have been a hunting dog, maybe his original owner had him out hunting and he ran off. We’ll never know.

We got a rescue beagle. Waited a while, but at what point is it a rebound pet?
I think it’s great you adopted him.
And FWIW, we worked through a lot of behavioral issues with ours including his biting our female twice over food issues and now he’s the sweetest damn dog. I’m glad I didn’t heed the vet’s warning about a dog that draws blood on another dog. Sometimes they just need patience and understanding.
Any questions, feel free to e-mail me.

Rescue dogs seem to know you’ve rescued them. Every dog we’ll ever get for the rest of our lives will be a rescue, and we try to promote doing it.
Especially German Shorthaired Pointers!
I really respect that you worked through those issues with your rescue Abbadon, many people would have given up when the biting started.
Our Lab, (also female) is definitely asserting her place in the pack, and Mikey is submissing, so I think it should work out pretty good.
