My 2 Cents On The Spitz

Posted by bmac on March 12, 2008

What can I possibly add to the Spitzer thing, other than this is exactly why 40-50% of our population don’t bother to vote. And I don’t blame them. We vote these jackasses into office, and they proceed to believe they’re a fucking rock star, and behave as such. To be honest, I’m suspicious of anyone that runs for office, Democrat or Republican. It takes a certain kind of megalomaniacal power hungry dick to seek office these days. Maybe it always has.

I know a lot of Republicans are kind of jumping for joy at the fact that a Dem finally got caught with his hand in the cookie jar, but ultimately, this hurts all of us. It’s not like Republicans are much better really. Foley and bathroom stall-boy are even a little creepier, to me at least, than Spitzer.

Once again, the bar has been lowered. Once again, we just have to accept that it’s damn near impossible to expect our elected officials to not behave like they’re a member of the fucking Rat Pack. Once again, we get the government we deserve.

This is the argument I always get into with my liberal friends about Clinton. The old “it’s just a blowjob, so what blah blah, better than starting an illegal war, blah blah, nobody DIED!”

Maybe not, but Clinton lowered the bar with his lecherous antics, and brought a fucking trailer park white trash attitude to the Oval Office, that we’re still feeling the effects of, especially when 1 in 4 teenage girls has an STD, that most of them probably got by giving “harmless” blowjobs.

This will just add to the deserved mistrust and cynicism most Americans have of politicians, myself included. Aside from humiliating his family, Spitz has, like Clinton, taken all of us down a few notches, and made a mockery of public office, all over a little pussy.

It also confirms why I don’t believe in conspiracy theories. No matter how powerful you are, sooner or later, someone’s gonna rat you out.

One Response to “My 2 Cents On The Spitz”

  1. “I cannot accept your canon that we are to judge Pope and King unlike other men, with a favorable presumption that they did not wrong. If there is any presumption it is the other way against holders of power, increasing as the power increases. Historic responsibility has to make up for the want of legal responsibility. All power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Great men are almost always bad men, even when they exercise influence and not authority: still more when you superadd the tendency or the certainty of corruption by authority.”
Lord Acton in a letter to Mandell Creighton (April,1887)
